Dalmatian Nationals

It is certainly fun to hear what others do with their horses besides trail ride.  Peggy, of Team Dalmatian Spots just returned from Oklahoma where she competed in the Dalmatian Nationals.  She was excited to tell us that her dogs won 1st and 2nd place!  Not only that, she had to compete on a rented horse.  What a challenge!  This competition is designed to test the Dalmatian ability to "coach" or "follow the horses".  A Dalmatian "Road Trial" is a judged trail ride for 12.5 or 25 miles, where only the dog is judged.

Peggy shared this picture of her and her dogs on her loaner horse.  She commented that “all those distance derby miles paid off!”   Congrats, Peggy!

Just for the fun of it, I thought I would chart the miles for the 62 riders currently reporting.

Chart

.

There are no riders in the 600 – 700 range right now.  There are 9 riders who have reported miles in the early months but who have not reported in the last two month.  They are reflected in the 30 riders who have less than 100 miles.  In addition, there are 8 riders who have never reported miles but have not asked to be taken out of the competition.  Those who have reported no miles are not included in the above chart.  Anyway, if you find this sort of thing interesting…
