I live in Nebraska and trail ride with my two paint horses, but we also have fun together at poker runs, trail challenges and game days. I started riding at 11 and never looked back, just seemed to be at home on a horse. I'll spend most of my DD miles on my Gelding who never fails to provide a fun ride and has become a real partner, and some miles on my big Mare who is a sweet girl. I'm starting my Shetland pony on driving so I guess I'll get a few "cart" miles recorded also !

Got a ride in this afternoon, an hour of ringwork with a THICK ranch pad paired with a bareback pad made for a Comfy ride. Lots of trotting and backing in circles. 30' doesn't seem so cold with no wind !

Wind & Deer can make a horse grow a couple inches and home seems the safest place to head to, but today I decided to make those feet of Chief's Move and in a constructive way. A field of round bales provided endless figure 8's to manuever around and soon we had gps'd over 5 miles and he was giving me a sweet, collected trot & deer were forgotten.
I don't think this went thru when I posted it on Sunday.

After my Mare provided me with some uncharasteristic (for her) air time, and after I picked myself up out of the dirt and quit sniveling, and switched out tack to the Gelding, we went for a ride. Just to prove to myself that I was allright. Chief gave me a nice ride, as he's been doing lately. Been reading alot on mare heat this week, as I believe that's whats going on. All the signs point to it. But need to get back on her soon, before the little voices get bigger.

3.91 - Todays ride brought tears and laughter to me. I haven't ridden China, since she threw me to the ground more than a month ago. The longer I waited, the more afraid I got. She's been following me to the gate, every time I took Chief out. Today after longing, I just climbed on, and she was my good girl. Hadn't forgotten anything, sidepassed and backed beautifully. We spent a good, long while trotting that lovely suspended trot. Time to stop wasting time.
