My Arab, Haily, came into my life at a time when I really needed her. I was suffering with very low self confidence in my horsemanship skills and ability to ride and control a horse. In January of 2011, I met her when I went into confidence training with her owner at that time. Haily is one of those once in a lifetime horses she is doing a wonderful job of putting the joy of horseback riding into my life. We did one MOTDRA CTR in 2011 and have plans for many competitive rides in 2012 along with many miles of conditioning and bonding with this wonderful equine.

AWESOME first Endurance ride for 2012 on my Friends the Cole's horse "New Mary" (AKA Nubria) This was the hardest most technical and most beautiful trail I have ever been on. My must have bumped my gps a few times at it did not document all my miles. But I did get off and walk with her for about 2 miles so it I did not lose all my miles. The ride was 24.7 miles and I rode around camp for about 35 minutes before we went out since I had never been on this horses back before ;) and check out the elevation change 2,290 feet in just 22 miles!

Nice ride at home out the scarey way for me, we both did get I made it past the other horses that yell and carry on and Haily made it past the horse eating cows and plastic fence! A great ride. We ran into a neighbor out riding too so we just may have a new local riding buddy. She was a friend of my daughters in high school. The only regular riding buddy of mine that is in the distance derby is Janet and Hap we are riding tomorrow I will ask why she is not sending in her miles.

The first loop on Sunday was just Haily and I. My goal was 4mph we almost made it but I did get her tired and that is what conditioning in all about. The second loop was with Bev we did some trail marking and went on a few on the new short cuts trails. Total Elevation Change for the weekend was 4,215 feet!!!

I was trying out my new treeless saddle when you get the silly thing you have to put it together with no directions. I did not put the stirrup hanger on right and lost my stirrup 3 times so figured I better get back home before losing a stirrup caused some kind of wreak. I have had Haily for a year and she just keeps getting better and better!

This was one of the best rides I have had on Haily since I got her. She is getting very fit and loves to trot and lope the whole trail if I let her. This place is pretty much up or down so she only got to trot the ups and the little bit of flat. We wasted about 3 minute snorting at a rock but after all she is an Arab :)I was wanting to get in 5 miles but the dark clouds were rolling in so it was time to leave.

Wanted to get some difficult miles in on the new Glove boots to make sure they would stay on for up hills and mud. Did not find much mud but sure did some hills. the boots did great putting them on is challenging I hope that gets better as I put them on more! My GPS's band broke a few weeks ago and I have not gott it replace yet. I have it Jerry rigged on my wrist and for the 3 time it has shut off on its own!. I lost over 5 miles and 35 minutes :(. This was Haily's first Open CTR ride I picked a good day to push her this far. The weather was awesome and the trail where hot and fast. We rode most the first loop alone but got lost and then ended up in with a group of 3 others. We split off form them for a while and I ended up doing an unplanned dismount. She saw that hoses eating water well and exited left and I stayed center then down. All happened so fast I was not sure what did happen. We had a lot of dirt eating this ride one lady came off twice. It is one of those trails with lots of monsters. I really like riding her alone as then she can trot her trot. She can tort 7 mph all day long but get hollow at over 8mph. I was really trying to keep her alone but that gets challenging with 14 people all leaving within 14 minutes. All 14 riders completed healthy happy horses. Haily and I came in 3rd in the Heavy weight division and were the only ones to do both loops totally barefoot. My trimmers Janet and Randy will be thrilled.Pomona has almost no elevation change it is probably the flattest trail I ever rode with only 534 feet elevation change. But it is very technical. The first 4 or 5 miles is all BIG rock your horse really has to watch where they put their feet. the trails are 99% woods on very narrow trails with lots of knee knockers and helmet grabbers. I thought I was going to get "pulled" of my horse once and now have a nice hole in the vent on my helmet. Better than my head. Haily did great only lost points on her heart rates. We will have a hard time beating Deb and Vicky as their horses have hearts rates under 40 within seconds of coming in. But that is the plan!

Not real sure here to start I really tired to process I all I saw but this is probably impossible :( the main things I need to work on are soft eyes, breathing, and centered pelvis. Centered posting was awesome too. I am a little concerned with knowing how a centered pelvis feels but am going to give it my best. I am also know going to read both books may take me a while! I forgot to turn on the gps the second day but still got in 1/2 a miles with an average of 1.1 mph :)Looks like my Wednesday ride needs to be about 4.5 miles so I can hit the 300 mark:) I did a ride around the section at Brenda's after the Clinic on Saturday.

Haily needed a workout I think she got it not a lot of miles but 1,417 elevation gain and 5.1 mph average and 13.1 fast mph. And that was just loop one :) Awesome day using my soft eyes and breathing, working some on center ball stuff :)

Awesome weekend at Turkey Creek thsi was my first time there and it was Haily's birthday weekend. She is now a 7 year old. I called Bev on Saturday evening and told her she was going to kidnap her as soon as she was well again and take her to Turkey Creek. I was surprised by my "low" elevation gains. I guess it was due to my short mileage rides??? We did 18.59 miles over the weekend and every step was alone just Haily and I. I had people offer but I was either eating, just getting back or some such thing and I ending up riding alone the whole time. Thank god for the back to Camp signs or I would still be on loop 1 trying to get back :)

Got my 400th mile on this ride and it was a nice pre ride of the orange trail for the SSG MOTDRA ride. Haily was grade 5 lame in the morning of the ride. The young vet noticed what he thought was join fluid coming out of her fetlock joint so I loaded up and went to K-State. She did not have a hole in her joint but did have fluid on her hock. Long weekend!

I FINALLY went back behind the house and got back on the Haily Hills trails and got to the meadows I could see on the satellite image of my gps down load.
